Dear Graduate Students, On December 8th, the University announced a new comprehensive open access program that supports free and unrestricted access to scholarly research. Open access publishing represents a new way of disseminating research, and provides scholars with an opportunity to extend the reach of their research and to increase its impact. As part of this program, an Author Fund has been established to help authors defray open access fees charged by some publishers. This Fund is available to all members of the university community, including graduate students. If you submit a research article to a journal and it is accepted for publication through peer-review, you can request funding to pay any fee associated with making the article openly accessible. For more information on the Fund and on open access, consult our new Web site at http://oa.uottawa.ca/. You can now submit an online application for funding via this Web site. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Patrick Labelle, Scholarly Communication Librarian, at plabelle@uottawa.ca or at 613-562-5800, ext. 4563. Highlights from the Hidden Resources on Campus SeminarPosted by cassandra in UncategorizedHidden Resources on Campus Highlights: On October 27th, the CGSA hosted its first academic seminar of the school year! We had three wonderful guest speakers. Olivia from the writing help centre and Louise & Consuela from the Grad Mentoring Centre. Here are just a few quick highlights if you missed the session. http://cgsa-aedc.ca/blog/ Reminder: Food donations needed! Please help us out. The CGSA is organizing a food drive to support the Ottawa Food Bank. Last year was a success as we raised over 150 lbs of food, 50 lbs over our goal. This year will be bigger and better than ever! We have raised our goal for this year to 150 pounds of food. Again this year, the CGSA executive will match contributions made to the drive. Please drop off any food at either location: 200 Wilbrod Street or 554 King Edward. There are boxes set-up for your donations. |
