Organized by a group of graduate students from the Department of Communication, Intercom is an excellent opportunity for students and professionals doing interdisciplinary communication research to discuss new ideas while giving feedback on others’ work.
Hidden Resources on Campus Highlights:
On October 27th, the CGSA hosted its first academic seminar of the school year! We had three wonderful guest speakers. Olivia from the writing help centre and Louise & Consuela from the Grad Mentoring Centre. Here are just a few quick highlights if you missed the session. http://cgsa-aedc.ca/blog/
Reminder: Food donations needed!
Please help us out. The CGSA is organizing a food drive to support the Ottawa Food Bank. Last year was a success as we raised over 150 lbs of food, 50 lbs over our goal. This year will be bigger and better than ever! We have raised our goal for this year to 150 pounds of food. Again this year, the CGSA executive will match contributions made to the drive.
Please drop off any food at either location: 200 Wilbrod Street or 554 King Edward. There are boxes set-up for your donations.
Hey everyone,

Graduate students at the Department of Communication are organizing a colloquia series, Intercom, and are looking for individuals interested in presenting their ideas and receiving feedback. If you are a professor or student from any faculty or department, or private sector researcher, doing interdisciplinary communication research and are interested in participating, let us know!
Intercom will be an informal opportunity for students, faculty, and professionals from the communication community in Ottawa to gather over lunch, present papers, and get feedback, network, and exchange ideas. Intercom convenes the third Wednesday of the month starting on November 25, 2009.
Intercom will be an excellent opportunity for individuals doing interdisciplinary communication research to expand their academic skill set both as presenters and as an active audience. The series will be focused on new and ongoing research by students, faculty, and private sector researchers alike, so everyone can benefit from feedback on their own theses, research papers, books, or other ongoing work. What’s more, it will be fun!
If you are interested in presenting at Intercom on Novermber 25, 2009, please send us a copy of the paper/manuscript/whatever you would like to discuss, with an abstract of no more than one page, to Intercomottawa@gmail.com before November 7, 2009.
We are working on the site. In the meantime if you need to track us down please email us at cgsa.aedc@gmail.com
