Author Fund available

Dear Graduate Students,

On December 8th, the University announced a new comprehensive open access program that supports free and unrestricted access to scholarly research.

Open access publishing represents a new way of disseminating research, and provides scholars with an opportunity to extend the reach of their research and to increase its impact.

As part of this program, an Author Fund has been established to help authors defray open access fees charged by some publishers. This Fund is available to all members of the university community, including graduate students.

If you submit a research article to a journal and it is accepted for publication through peer-review, you can request funding to pay any fee associated with making the article openly accessible.

For more information on the Fund and on open access, consult our new Web site at http://oa.uottawa.ca/. You can now submit an online application for funding via this Web site.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Patrick Labelle, Scholarly Communication Librarian, at plabelle@uottawa.ca or at 613-562-5800, ext. 4563.
